Ana Fernández (Miranda Texidor) nació en 1963 en Quito, Ecuador.
Se graduó en el San Francisco Art Institute en EEUU con una Licenciatura (Bachelor of Fine Arts) en Pintura y recibió su Maestría (Master of Fine Arts) en Dibujo y Pintura de California College of the Arts.
Es PHD en Filosofía, Estética y Teoría del Arte por IDSVA Institute for Doctoral Studies in the Visual Arts. Su trabajo e investigación recientes exploran fabulaciones especulativas relativas a la ontología de las plantas, los yachags y chamanas andinas y amazónicas y el/la artista en trance.
Ha sido Artista en Residencia del Women’s Studio Workshop en New York en 2004 y ha ganado varios premios entre ellos el Pollock Krasner Foundation Grant en 2005 y el Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation Grant en 2022. Recientemente recibió el premio Ted Coons Dissertation Prize 2023 que concede IDSVA a la mejor tesis doctoral. Publicó el “Museo en una Caja” con un premio del Ministerio de Cultura del Ecuador, un juego y libro para difusión del arte contemporáneo ecuatoriano.
Ha desarrollado una amplia labor docente a nivel primario, secundario y universitario. Expone regularmente en Ecuador y su obra ha sido expuesta en Argentina, Brasil, EE UU y Europa.
Ana Fernandez (Miranda Texidor) was born in 1963 and raised in Quito, Ecuador.
She graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute with a BFA in Painting and received her MFA in Painting and Drawing from California College of the Arts.
She holds a PHD in Philosophy, Aesthetics and Art theory with IDSVA. In her recent work and research, Ana explores the possibilities of speculative fabulations on Plant Ontology, the Amazonian yachag and the artist in trance.
She is a recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Award in 2005, and the Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Foundation Grant in 2022. She was awarded recently the Ted Coons Dissertation Prize IDSVA 2023. She has received numerous grants, among them, the Artist in Residence at Women’s Studio Workshop, Rosendale, New York, a grant to develop an Art Program in Yunguilla Ecuador through Center for Art and Public life Oakland California.
She has been Painting faculty at Universidad Central del Ecuador, and Broward College Ecuador, Foothill College, California and CCA California College for the Arts. Her work has been shown throughout Latin America, Spain, Italy, and the US and is in various collections.
